QA provides a variety of archaeological services; including cultural resource management, private sector consulting, academic research collaboration, museum exhibit design, and collections management. Additionally, we offer superior illustration and cartography using traditional as well as digital methods.
Traditional analog Mapping & Technical Illustration
While we are now operating in a post-industrial digital world, there are some skills and interpretive services that never quite go out of style. The mapping of large backhoe trenches and site plans can be accomplished just as expeditiously by hand, and Quartermaine Archaeology is proud to be able to deliver high-quality inked and penciled graphics that are publication-ready.
Traditional Photography
Digital photography has to a significant extent replaced the use of film in the field, but there is still no substitute for quality photographic interpretation. By using the finest black-&-white and color films, Quartermaine Archaeology can consistently provide high-quality images that complement our illustrations in the interpretations of excavated features. From composing and taking the frames to development of negatives and prints, QA maintains a high standard of scientific art in its work.
Phase III & Burial Excavation
The large-scale data recovery project is one of the most exciting and difficult levels of archaeological investigation to manage. Quartermaine Archaeology is uniquely qualified to provide all levels of expertise in the operation and management of intensive site excavation from mechanical excavation monitoring to feature investigation. We specialize in devising unique methods of recordation and burial recovery for both prehistoric and historic sites.
